Overview of Global Carbon Dioxide Emissions UPSC
Recent reports indicate that global carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions are projected to rise by 0.8% in 2023, reaching a staggering 41.6 billion metric tons in 2024. This increase is primarily attributed to the continued reliance on fossil fuels, particularly coal, oil, and gas, which are expected to account for 37.4 billion tons of emissions. The findings were published in the Global Carbon Budget report during the ongoing COP29 climate summit in Azerbaijan, highlighting the urgent need for effective climate action.
